Shopify ad spy

How to use Shopify ad spy

Paste the Shopify store. How to read the result without treating it as a forecast.

Key takeaways

  • Use the URL or the figures the decision actually depends on.
  • Change one thing, then run the same input again.
  • A result goes stale when the price, the theme, the apps, or the costs change.

The pass

Paste the Shopify store. Open Shopify winning ads spy and do it in this order.

  1. Paste the store. Confirm the brand in each library is the advertiser you meant. Shared names collide.
  2. In Meta Ad Library, read the primary text, the start date, and the platforms. In TikTok’s library, watch the opening of a video that has stayed live. In Google Ads Transparency Center, see whether Search ads run beside the social creative.
  3. Copy the landing URL from the ad. Do not assume it is the homepage.
  4. Open that URL in the CRO Audit. Study the page the click was built for. Do not copy the product because the ad is old.

The mistake that wastes the pass

Treating time-on as profit. The library cannot show you the cost per purchase that kept the ad alive.

How you know it worked

You have the landing URL from the ad, the library it came from, and a note that you confirmed the advertiser. Without the URL, you only have a creative.

Write the lookup before you describe the ad

After the libraries load, you take one note for the pass. The first lines are the store URL, the brand you intended, the date you looked, and the country selected. Under that, you give each library its own block: Meta Ad Library, TikTok ad library, and Google Ads Transparency Center. An empty library gets a block too, with the words that nothing was found for that brand in that library. A later reader should rebuild the pass from the header alone.

You add the start date in the library's own form, next to the library name. You do not convert it into a judgment. Beside the date, you can write a short reminder that a long start date means the advertiser left the ad on. That sentence keeps the next person from upgrading a date into a result. If you looked in two countries, you duplicate the header and label each country, so the cards never share a note by accident.

Say the TikTok block is empty and the Meta block has cards. Both blocks stay. You do not delete the empty one to make the note feel fuller. The empty block is a finding. The Meta block will hold only the cards that survived the name check. The header has already told the reader which store and which day the whole page refers to.

Describe the creative and the copy in concrete words

For each kept card, you write what a person can see. Name the format, such as a short video, a still image, or a text ad. Then name the object in the frame, the setting, and any words burned into the picture. If the piece has a sequence, describe the opening moment and one later moment. You are making a record another person can picture. You are not giving the ad a score.

The copy note sits under the visual note. Record the first line, any offer words, and the call to action. A short quotation is appropriate when the exact phrase matters. Paraphrase the rest. If the copy mentions a bundle, a guarantee, or a price, write those words as claims the ad made in public. You do not add a line about whether shoppers believed them. Belief and sales live outside the card.

Keep one card to one block. If you are reading several cards from the same library, repeat the format, the visual, the copy, the start date, and the landing URL for each. You still do not total them. A reader who wants to know how many ads the brand runs will not find that number in your note, because you do not have a reliable count and you do not invent one.

Copy the landing URL and confirm the domain

Paste the landing URL in full under the copy note. Then open it once. Confirm the domain matches the store you looked up, and write the page type you landed on: product, collection, homepage, or something else. If a price is visible, you may mention that a price is on the page. Leave the selling judgment alone. The URL note proves where the ad sent people. It is a destination, recorded so someone else can open the same door.

If the URL fails to load, write that it failed and keep the address anyway. A broken link is a fact about the moment you clicked. You do not replace it with a different page you prefer. If the URL leaves the store domain, move the whole card to the collision section of the note. The creative description can stay, clearly marked as a different advertiser, or you can omit the creative and keep only the reason you set it aside.

Say the ad promises a kit and the URL opens a single skillet. You write both observations in consecutive lines. You do not smooth them into one story. The person who owns the next step can open the URL and decide what to do with the mismatch. Your pass is complete when the address, the domain check, and the page type are on the note.

Leave the private fields blank on purpose

Under each card, leave three labeled blanks: spend, results, and audience. Empty blanks are clearer than a missing section. They show that you looked for those fields and the library did not provide them. Nobody later fills them from memory or from a rumor about the brand. The blanks are a guard for the next meeting.

You can add a collision line and a coverage line. The collision line names any card you set aside and the domain that disqualified it. The coverage line repeats the country. If one library was empty, its block contains the empty result and the same three blanks, so the pattern of the note stays stable. A stable pattern helps a freelancer, a buyer, and a founder read each other's notes without a new legend every time.

End the pass by naming where the note will live and who will read it next. You do not attach a rank, a winner, or a recommended budget. The file is a transcript of public fields plus your plain-language description. When the note has a header, one block per library, a domain check, and the three blanks, the pass is done.

Lines worth keeping on the library note

Use the same order every time so a handoff can be scanned in a minute.

  • Store URL, intended brand, the day of the pass, and the country selected in each library.
  • A separate block for the Meta Ad Library, the TikTok ad library, and the Google Ads Transparency Center.
  • For an empty block, the sentence that nothing was found for that brand in that library.
  • For a kept card, the format and a concrete description of the creative.
  • The opening line, the offer words, and the call to action, quoted only where the exact phrase matters.
  • The start date as printed, with the reminder that a long start date means the advertiser left the ad on.
  • The full landing URL, the domain check, and the page type you saw.
  • Any card set aside because the advertiser or the domain belonged to a different business.
  • Blank lines labeled spend, results, and audience.
  • The name of the person who will receive the note, and no budget beside their name.

Read the finished note as the next person

Before the note leaves your hands, you read it as someone who never saw the screen. Every kept card needs a library name and a country. Every landing URL needs a domain verdict and a page type. Every empty library needs the statement that nothing was found for that brand in that library. Spend, results, and audience need to be visibly blank. A note that only works while you remember the scroll will collect rumors by the end of the week.

Say a sentence calls a video a winner, or guesses that the viewers were parents, homeowners, or bargain hunters. You delete that sentence and you put back the visual and the words that were actually on the card. Say a line totals the ads you scrolled. You delete the total. The library showed you a public page under its own country rules. A partial page is a reading, and it is unfit to travel as a census of the brand.

You close with one next step and one owner. Honest next steps include opening the landing URL, checking whether your catalog has a comparable product, or setting the store aside for the month. The step fits on one line because it asks for work you can finish without inventing a column. When the owner is named and the blanks are intact, the pass is ready to send.

Shopify questions

How long is a result good for?

Until the page, the price, the theme, or the costs change. Rerun after a theme publish, a new app embed, or a new supplier quote.

Does this install anything on the store?

No. The page runs in your browser. Nothing is installed on the store you are looking at, and the calculators do not connect to the admin.
